Sebastian Petersen, Universität Kassel 23.03.2016, 12.00, B1-37 Title: The inverse problem of Galois theory Abstract (PDF version here):
The inverse problem of Galois theory asks whether for every finite group G there exists an epimorphism Gal(Q) --> G, where Gal(Q) is the absolute Galois group of Q. This problem is far from being solved. We give an overview talk about known partial results, emphasizing the so-called rigidity method of Thompson, Matzat and Malle. |
